Bryce Canyon Fly-In and Car Show

Movie in the Park

This particular weekend begins at 8:30 pm, Friday, August 24th with an outdoor “Movie in the Park” in front of Ruby’s Inn (Best Western Plus side of the road – 25 S. Main St.) The movie will be a “family-friendly” picture, acceptable for all ages. You may want to bring some lawn chairs and a blanket, and then get ready to cozy-in for the night, lounging with kids and good feelings all around.

The next morning, Saturday, August 25th at 6:50 am the 2nd Annual “Canyon-2-Canyon” family bike ride registration will begin. Registration is FREE which includes a T-Shirt, Raffle Card, and prizes. If bikers would like to start inside the park, you will need a National Park Pass.

An unforgettable event where all ages of your family can choose to participate at every skill level. At its core, it’s a 17-mile bike ride that starts in Bryce Canyon. There are also different starting points along the trail so that little kids can ride to the finish without having to start at the same place as more advanced riders who choose to ride the entire distance.

A few notes to consider:

For those of you who want to participate in Canyon-2-Canyon but don’t want to haul your bikes, bike rentals will be available at the Bryce Canyon Sinclair Station at 105 S. Main St. (Bikes are $10 per hour or $25 for 4/hrs.)

Ruby’s Inn will provide shuttles with trailers to take riders and their bikes to each of the three starting points, and participants will be picked up from Red Canyon, at no charge.

The first shuttle leaves at 7 a.m. and runs every 20 minutes until noon when it makes its last pickup of riders from Red Canyon.

Cyclists who start at Inspiration Point will have to pay an entrance fee into Bryce Canyon National Park, which can be done at the Bryce Canyon Shuttle Station at 165 S. Main St. Closing ceremonies will take place at 12:30 p.m.

Starting points listed here:

  • Inspiration Point inside Bryce Canyon
  • Ruby’s Inn
  • Red Canyon

The bike ride officially ends at noon; this means that the last shuttle back to Ruby’s Inn will leave at this time. Shuttles are free to all participants. After the bike ride, you will want to participate in the “Fly-in and Car Show” at the airport.

Wrap Up the Summer

The final week in August is the perfect time for this great family event. Visitors to the park start to dwindle around this weekend. The weather isn’t quite so hot, and the rates for camping and hotels aren’t as high due to supply and demand. Bryce Canyon City provides this event at “No-Charge.” In many ways, it’s their way of saying thank you to the community and to anyone who comes to support the community.

The airport is 2.8 miles from Ruby’s Inn (approx. 6-minute drive.) The fly-in and car show begin at 11 a.m. at the Bryce Canyon Airport, 450 N. Airport Road, and check-in begin at 10 a.m., with many activities that take place until 3 p.m. This correlates perfectly with those who participated in the Canyon-2-Canyon bike ride. There will be plenty of time to participate in all the events.

This year they expect approx. 40+ restored cars on display. This in conjunction with the various airplanes, music, and varied array of food will make for a fun time mingling with vendors all the while meeting new people and possibly making new friends from all walks of life.

Raffle Giveaways

At registration, each person receives a raffle ticket. This year’s raffle includes giveaways such as camp chef, canopies, lounge chairs, camping gear, there is also a camping package and a car-show package being given away along with many other items.

This year marks the first year where the Canyon-2-Canyon Bike Ride and the Fly-in and the Car Show are all coming together to make for the best event of its kind near the beautiful surroundings of Bryce Canyon National Park.
