Types of Rides

Horse trail rides

One hour ride
The one hour ride is a great riding experience for everyone from beginners to experienced riders. This short tour takes you through many scenic areas like Water Canyon Amphitheater, Boat Mesa, and Sinking Ship Peak. As you slowly ride along you will have the opportunity to really take in the scenic views and experience Bryce Canyon as it should be experienced.

Minnie’s Favorite
Minnie’s Favorite ride is a 1 ½ hour long ride through many of the areas that the one-hour ride takes you through. You will also climb up Bristlecone Pine Ridge and find yourself at the base of the 1,500-year-old bristlecone pines. This four-and-a-half-mile-long ride is a great way to see amazing views in a short amount of time.

Half day ride
This half day ride provides magnificent views and a great riding experience. You will ride through Losee Canyon among the stunning red rocks. You will see hoodoos up close and personal as you trot along the trails. This ride is about six miles long from start to finish and will take approximately three hours to complete. It is the longest ride suitable for inexperienced riders and provides a great journey and memorable experience when horseback riding near Bryce.

All day ride
This all-day horseback riding experience is not for beginners or inexperienced riders. This ride will take you along Casto Canyon and Losee Canyon as you ride through Red Canyon. This all-day ride will take around six to eight hours to complete. You will be provided a box lunch and will get to take a mid-ride break in the wilderness to eat and rest. If you are at least a novice rider and have a day available, the all-day ride will be an amazing experience.

Thunder mountain ride
This excellent ride is not for the faint of heart. You will ride along steep trails and be on the edge of long drop offs. You must rely on your horse to know what to do on these difficult trails. This trail is not for beginning riders or people who are afraid of heights. This ride will test your skills and take about four hours to complete. The Thunder Mountain Ride is one of the most exhilarating things to do in Bryce.

Wagon
If horseback riding isn’t your style but you’d still like to see the scenery in a rustic way, a wagon ride may be the perfect option for you. You will be seated in a wagon which will be pulled by horses through the gorgeous landscape of the National Forest and to the Rim of Bryce Canyon. The wagons hold 12 guests but a group wagon, which holds 50, can be requested, as well. This exciting ride, suitable for all ages, will be an experience you never forget.

Sleigh rides
If you are visiting Bryce Canyon in the winter, you shouldn’t miss the magical sleigh ride provided by Ruby’s Horseback Adventures. Like the wagon ride, you will board a horse-drawn sleigh and be carried away to the Rim of Bryce Canyon. The landscape changes from red rock to a magical white dusting which makes this riding option even more incredible.

Bryce Canyon Rodeo
If you’d like to experience a genuine cowboy activity, the Bryce Canyon Rodeo is a can’t miss adventure. Every Wednesday through Saturday, from Memorial Day to August, you will have the opportunity to see what being a cowboy really means. The rodeo features bronco busters, rope skills, and many other exciting horseback activities. Watching these cowboys in action is a once in a lifetime experience.

If you’d rather be a part of the action than be a spectator, the Bryce Canyon Rodeo gives you the option to get in on the action. That’s right, you can test your cowboy skills and really see what you’re made of. Adults can try their hand at bull riding while kids can hop on to a steer or sheep. If you’re brave enough to let your inner cowboy out, there is no better place to do it.
